Buster took a shit.

I'm so happy :D

He's home now, and sleeping peacefully. The vet keeps reminding us that he's made an absolutely miraculous recovery, but we could still lose him.

He's made it his far...I gotta think he's gonna be ok. He's been through so much already...

He's made it past all the other "ifs".

If he can become stable enough to operate on...
If he can make it through the night after the surgery...
If his bowel can regain bloodflow...

And now it's "if his poor abused bowel can hold up and doesn't tear".

Thank you thank you thank you guys so much for the support and good thoughts. You've been so wonderful, and I don't know to thank you enough. :)

Buster made it through the night. When the vet called this morning, he admitted that he fully expected to find that Buster had passed away (sldjflksjglsd). Instead, he found Buster standing up in his cage as though to say "yeh right, Doc."

We went to go see him, and he's looking so much better. Of course, the last time I saw him was yesterday morning when he couldn't walk and was on death's doorstep. He was giving us all kisses, which he hasn't done for the past three days. I couldn't keep it together at all and was crying the whole time. My family is holding up better than I am, though.

He's peeing, and his urine is light, so we know his kidneys are fine. No bowel movement yet, but he hasn't eaten since Friday morning, so I don't know that he'd have anything to pass, anyway. The vet took from for a walk outside today, and he was moving around ok (though very slowly). Everything is improving...we just need to give his system time to fight the infection and get the blood flowing in his small intestine again.

I had a very bizarre dream last night. There was a lot of symbolism (or things that I'm interpreting as symbolic, anyway). A lot of things that have been lost showed up in that dream. I dreamed that we got Buster back (the vet, who in the dream looked a lot like the vet we had in NY, brought him to our home). I was wearing a necklace that I misplaced months ago, and my brother (who lost his hair at a young age)had a full head of hair. It seems almost comical.

We go see Buster again at 3 this afternoon. Keep sending those good thoughts...you guys have been great, and I bet Buster is appreciative (I know I am).

Where there's life there's hope, right?

Happy 4th of July.

Buster became stable enough to have the surgery done. Turns out a piece of corn cob was blocking his small intestine. They removed the piece of corn cob, but the problem is that about 98% of his small intestine was really tortured. It wasn't black, but it was purple, the and vet is doubtful about whether or not blood flow can be restored. Either it is restored and he recovers, or it is not restored and he doesn't.
The vet says if anyone can recover from this, it would be Buster, because he's a big healthy boy. But it didn't sound like he was offering much hope.

He came back once today...

Thank you for all the good thoughts and vibes. Please keep them coming...

Please send good thoughts for our doggie Buster. He's not doing well...He's been sick three days now, and the vet needs to get him stable so they can operate and see what's wrong. Please, any good thoughts...
